Abrasion treatment

The aim of abrasion treatment is to abrade, scratch or scarify the seed coats to assist  moisture absorption. It could be achieved by simply rubbing the seeds against rough sand paper or a file. If the quantity of seed is less this method  can be adopted. Mixing the seeds with sand one to two times of seed and pounding them in a mortar is another simple method of abrasion treatment. If the quantity of seeds to treated is large  seed dressing drum can be used. Sand paper is fixed in the inner surface the seed dressing drum  and half of the drum is filled with seeds. The drum is rotated for 24 Hr at 70 rpm.
